Amazing Bus Fans Race June 2008What a wonderful event for all the bus enthusiasts who participate in this race yesterday...
1st time organizing for such a more major type of activity for my fellow bus enthusiasts here.. Main objective is to allow them to have fun in this race and also to foster bonding & understanding among one another..
As the organizer for this race, first of all I would like to thank all my organizing team (Ben, XY, Terence). They have put in a lot of effort in assisting me and contributing interesting ideas for this race.. We have actually spend quite a lot of money for this race including the printing cost (which is about $33 in total) and all the vouchers that we have given out for the winning team, and also out of my own expenses, I went to VivoMart to buy some stuffs for everyone to eat after the race.. Though it is quite a lot of money spent, but we (at least for me myself) find it worthwhile to spend on.. To be able to bless every single participants and my organizing team + 2 helpers (Alan and Wen Jun) with all I can provide is a pleasure for me.. ^_^
On my organizing team members' behalf, I would like to thank every single participants here to really come all the way to Youth Park early in the morning (8:30am) just to enjoy this race with passion and enthusiasm.. Without you guys coming, this race definitely won't be a success.. Hope you guys really enjoy this race a lot and if the response is very positive, we may be having another round in the coming December school holidays..
Won't actually say a very long story here... Trying to cut my post as SHORT as possible (which I have always failed to do so in this point..)..
Here goes the "SHORT" story.. (Putting in point form should look shorter perhaps?)
- 8:30am to 9:20am: Participants gathered at Youth Park stage area
- 9:20am to 10am: My opening speech, introduction of organizing team members, ice breaker games, grouping into teams of 3.. (6 teams in total)
- 10am: FLAG OFF!
- Teams have to go to various checkpoints for their deetour (Detour) and Road Blok (Road Block) and also Pit Stop halfway for a mandatory 30 minutes lunch break..
- 1st checkpoint: Novena Square; deetour; 1 of the team members have to choose between answering 8 questions or finding 10 items.. (All teams choosing the 8 questions one)
- 1st checkpoint: There is also Fast Forward, 2 teams tried to attempt, but only 1 team managed to succeed in the end..
- 2nd checkpoint: Ten Mile Junction; deetour; 1 of the team members have to choose between a LRT ride (answering 6 questions, only 1 team did) or borrow 2 books from Bt Panjang Plaza library with a certain requirement.. (which other teams did)
- 3rd checkpoint: Teban Garden Food Centre; pit stop; mandatory 30 minutes lunch break for every team.
- 4th checkpoint: Hougang Central Bus Interchange; Road Block; 1 of the team members have to snap 2 cameos buses and 1 Dennis Trident.. (a lot of time wasted for some teams because of the Tridents.. Only about 5 Tridents were deployed on that day, 3 from Service 89 while 2 from Service 51)
- 5th checkpoint: Jalan Angin Laut; Road Block; 1 of the team members have to snap 3 specific photocopied TIBS service guides around the area.. I am also very lenient for this part as I only pasted it around the playground and the small road area, instead of all the way down to the pillars along the MRT track as suggested by Ben earlier... Make things easier for the team members and myself + Alan... Lolx..
- 6th checkpoint: Kallang Leisure Park; Speed Bump; the 1st few arriving teams will get this speed bump. They have to follow instructions given by Terence... The later teams that arrived will just proceed to the last checkpoint.
- 7th checkpoint: Sky Park @ Vivocity; ending point for all the teams...
Once again, thanks to all who came for this race, be it participant, helpers or organizing team for making this a big success.. Definitely there are room for improvements, and will try to improve as much as possible for the 2nd round in December 2008..
Lord, I thank You for making this race a success. Whatever prayers that we have prayed for for this amazing bus fan race, You have answered every single one of them. You have blessed all of us with good weather, strength and protection throughout this race, and the participant show a lot of enthusiasm and passion for this race, even to the extent that they wish to have another round for this coming December school holiday. Lord, thank You also for being able to testify my faith, love and the passion for serving them throughout this race, Your Holy Spirit allow me to show my care and concern to the participating teams, by closing 1 eye and trying to show them their way to my checkpoint at Ten Mile Junction over the phone without any demerit points. Lord, I believe that in future, You will be able to bring me up to the next level, to be able to serve the people in the whole big family of bus enthusiast community, with confidence, with love and care, and faith.. Throughout this race, I did not worry about the weather, although it may seem to a bit negative in the morning, because I believe in Your Word, that we should live by faith and not by sight. I know that though You and Your precious only son, Jesus who have sacrificed himself 2000 years ago on the cross for all of us here, all things are possible through all the prayers that we have prayed for. Thank you Lord for having such a great blessing for us and to be able to touch the people here in a special way. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.... ^_^
Our life is lived by faith. We do not live by what we see in front of us.
